The air conditioning or cooling system of your vehicle is very important year round.
Did you know every time you turn your windshield defrost on the cars computer automatically turns on the air condition system even in the middle of winter.
This is done to clean and dehumidify the air inside your vehicle so the windows can be defrosted. The cold air is then redirected through the heater to warm it back up before blowing out the ventilation system. The Freon inside the A/C system lasts the life of the vehicle unless it leaks out. An A/C system diagnosis consists of hooking the A/C machine to your vehicle and testing the operating pressures of the compressor and the temperature of the air coming out the dash vents. If your A/C system is working properly it should be able to blow below 50F degrees out the center vents with a medium fan speed. If the A/C system is not cooling as well as it used to then it is most likely due to low refrigerant but can also be caused by inoperative cooling fans, worn out compressor, system blockage or a heater door that is sticking slightly open.
